"If anyone listens to my Saturday Morning Sports broadcasts on WWOW 1360, they know my focus is the local youth and the young adults - publicizing their efforts on the field as much as possible. Whether it be racing, baseball, football or basketball, the folks that participate in youth and adult sport around here add to the heritage & culture of this community. They’ve been doing it for years without enough fanfare......for whatever the reason.
But another big aspect of Saturday Morning Sports is the MLB steroid scandal, and the shame it brings upon those who now own the most prestigious of records in this historic American game.
The list goes on and on.....A-Roid one week, Manny Ramirez the next. Roger Clemens and his blowhard attorney Rusty something-or-other yapping about the lack of a confirmed trail for the mountains of physical evidence they have on his client...
Sammy Sosa and his “no speke any Englisss...” act in front of Congress. Raffy Palmerio shaking an accusing finger under oath denying steroid use....and then getting suspended the next week - for steroid use... then blaming Miguel Tejada...who said he threw his $23,000 shipment away when they arrived at his house via UPS...
When does it end - this lying and cheating!
Look at the records now held by that disgrace of a human being called Barry Bonds. The major league home run total of 762 & the seasonal record of 73 now belong to this pumpkin-headed cheat.
Think it matters....
When former hr-king Henry Aaron was in his mid-40's and could barely walk onto the field anymore, the Milwaukee Brewers begged him for one last appearance with their team in 1975-76. It was twenty-two years later that they brought him back to the stadium where he started - and brought so much joy to the fans in a bygone era. He was nowhere near the Hank Aaron of old...it did not matter.
Barry Bonds, coming off a good year with the SF Giants (28 HR, .276 BA in 480 AB) in 2007, was not even resigned by the Giants. Bonds then went the free agent route a year-and-a-half ago and nobody has bothered to call him since. He just brings too much baggage.....and he’s now out of baseball... "
